BARRINGTON, R.I. (WJAR) — It's estimated that one in three pets will become lost at some point in their life.
The panic that follows is feeling far too many pet owners have experienced.
“We were at the hotel down by the pool, my girlfriend and I, and both of us were just crying hysterically,” said James Tierney, of Barrington.
Tierney was on vacation a few weeks ago when he got the call -- his beagle Mallie had gotten loose.
Mallie's pet sitter at the time, Mike Shuster, was equally panicked.
