EAST SANDWICH — A timid Newfoundland dog dawdled a bit Friday night outside the large cage set up for her in the woods behind the Oak Ridge School.
Finally, after 15 minutes, 7-year-old Lyoness ambled in to snack on the bait, causing the door to snap shut and ending three weeks of worried searching by her owners, Kathleen McDonald and Steven Cassell.
“Is it true?” McDonald asked pet tracker Jamie Genereux on the phone Friday night as she and Cassell looked at the image of the trap taken by a field camera.
“Yes, go get your girl,” Genereux said.
